SXSW Gaming Expo
This past weekend was the SXSW gaming expo in Austin Texas. It was an amazing experience to be surrounded by such nerdom, and the opportunity to meet interesting people. I hope to talk about each of the studios I got to talk to, and the games they're working on.
So to start off, the Oculus Rift made an appearance with indie developers with such games as:
- Classroom Aquatic - This is a game where you are a foreign exchange student scuba diver, that gets put into a classroom full of dolphins. The problem is that there is a test today, and you don't understand dolphin! So using the Oculus Rift the player has to lean around to cheat off of the dolphins tests. The teacher dolphin patrols around the classroom, and believe me- you don't want them catching you. Turns out having a dolphin right in your face is pretty terrifying.
Go give them a look to learn more!

- Red Ladder Games - Charlie Shoe- This is a game similar to marble madness, as you play a marble and navigate through these dark fun house levels. It really has a sort of beetle juice/tim burton-y feel to me in the art department aspect. The overall game play is super easy to get into, and therefore easy to jump in and enjoy. I believe the Oculus really adds to this game as well, because the Oculus is a great immersion tool, and the game play is pure fun. I recommend checking this game out as well at their facebook page/ youtube channel.

Also there was a place where people were allowed to demo the Virtuix Omi directional tool and hydra controllers. I didn't get a chance to get much information on them either as there was a huge crowd around these booths at all times.
Regardless it is cool to see VR gaming progressing the way it is.
